Grünenthal started very early with its first activities abroad. As early as three years after its founding, our company exported antibiotics to Belgium and the Netherlands. Our first affiliates abroad were established in the 1950s, among others in Switzerland and in Spain. We have continuously pushed ahead with internationalizing our company ever since our first full subsidiary was established in Peru in 1968. Grünenthal is now represented with companies in 26 countries and has production sites in five countries. Our products are available in over 155 countries and 4,400 employees work for Grünenthal worldwide. But the personnel in Germany is international as well. The 1,700 employees based in Germany come from 35 different nations. Grünenthal has been a member of the Charter of Diversity of German Companies since 2009, and is thus dedicated to cultural diversity, integration and equal opportunities for all employees.

In 2009, the highest revenue by an individual country was in Germany; however, just over 80% of our total revenue was obtained by our European and Latin American affiliates.
