Dr. Klaus-Dieter Langner, Chief Scientific Officer

“There are many painful diseases which we are still unable to treat today. Our long-term goal must be to understand pain not as a symptom, but as a clinical picture in its own right calling for new, innovative therapies for patients.”

Dr. Klaus-Dieter Langner

Chief Scientific Officer

From early childhood, the signs were obvious: Klaus-Dieter Langner is a researcher. As a kid, he did his first experiments in his parents’ kitchen. Today, the research facilities are a bit bigger and slightly more modern, but Klaus-Dieter is as committed to research as ever. Following a Ph.D. in molecular biology, he started his career at Behringwerke AG in Marburg as a research scientist and went on to hold various management positions. Klaus-Dieter joined Grünenthal in 1998 and was appointed Chief Scientific Officer and member of the Corporate Executive Board in 2013.

Klaus-Dieter is convinced “we are in a position to take the field of pain management forward with innovation.”
