Prof. Dr. Uli Brödl was born in 1972 and assumed the role of Head of Research & Development, Chief Scientific Officer (“CSO”), and as a member of the Corporate Executive Board in February 2025. He has more than 15 years of industry experience and joined Grünenthal from Boehringer Ingelheim, where he served as Corporate Senior Vice President, Head of Global Clinical Development & Operations, and member of Boehringer Ingelheim's Venture Fund Investment Committee.
Earlier in his career, Uli led the clinical development of Jardiance (empagliflozin) at Boehringer Ingelheim, resulting in the successful registration of Jardiance as the first glucose-lowering medication to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease.
