Emergency relief
Grünenthal provides financial emergency aid in circumstances of exceptional distress for civilian populations caused by natural disasters, epidemics, or armed conflicts.
In Colombia, Grünenthal donated €75,000 following an earthquake in August 2026 to support emergency medical assistance, humanitarian supplies and water filters for affected communities. In Venezuela, Grünenthal donated €100,000 following earthquakes in June 2026 to support emergency shelter, food, safe water, hygiene supplies, health and trauma care. More than €1 million has been donated for emergency relief since 2021.
Social engagement
We support initiatives that strengthen communities and protect vulnerable groups, such as people with disabilities or children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
In the Amazon region, Grünenthal supported a programme for indigenous youth that provided safe spaces to explore their cultural roots and develop new skills. Educational, creative and community activities helped young people build confidence, strengthen resilience and reconnect with their heritage. The programme also gave participants opportunities for personal development and helped them build skills for their future.
Health and well-being
We focus on supporting palliative care, for example by funding the work of national or regional hospice foundations or Non-Governmental Organizations in the field of medical care.
In Ukraine, Grünenthal supported neonatal care in hospitals affected by the ongoing conflict. Repeated attacks and the resulting stress had contributed to a rise in premature births, while specialised incubators remained scarce and costly. The support helped hospitals provide incubators for premature and critically ill newborns, giving them access to essential care during the first days of life.
Environmental protection
We support activities that promote the responsible use of natural resources, e.g. the expansion of renewable energies by local associations.
In Ethiopia, Grünenthal supported a water-access initiative that provided communities with clean and safe water. Reliable access to water improved health and hygiene and made everyday life safer. The initiative also improved conditions for families and supported longer-term development in communities where access to clean water remained limited.
