One clear vision unites everybody at Grünenthal: A World Free of Pain. Two colleagues from our Portuguese Sales team exemplify this shared commitment to progress for patients. Sandra Ventura and Vasco Lobo both feel powerful motivation to improve quality of life for people with chronic pain. And they also both have first-hand experience of what it means to live with this disease because they have close family members who are dealing with chronic pain in daily life.
For Sandra, that real-world confrontation with chronic pain is the driving force for her career. She visits healthcare professionals to provide up-to-date information, tools and insights. “When I joined Grünenthal nine years ago, I could not have imagined the impact my role would have on people,” she says. “At all times, my main objective is to improve the wellbeing of patients.”
Vasco’s personal experiences of chronic pain have deepened his understanding of the limitations and challenges that patients face when this condition is not managed effectively. As a result, he takes pride in the recognition he gets from medical staff when sharing the latest scientific insights with them. “Doctors see us as the true pain specialists,” he says. “That is an honour, and it demonstrates the excellent work we have done at Grünenthal for many years.”
Feedback is also an important source of satisfaction for Sandra. Medical workers often contact her with updates about patients who have experienced positive outcomes from treatment with medicines from Grünenthal. “It makes me so proud to be part of a team that improves quality of life for millions of people around the world,” she says.
A similar sense of team spirit has inspired Vasco throughout his 23 years at Grünenthal. “Our company has a family atmosphere,” he says. “I am a family man in my private life, so I love belonging to Grünenthal’s workplace family in my professional life. Together, we look after each other and we look after chronic pain patients too.”
These two dedicated members of our Sales team in Portugal provide a striking example of how employees take inspiration from their home-life as fuel for their work-life. Grünenthal’s people are also people living within families, communities and societies. They share a deep commitment to achieving progress for patients. And they are united by one clear vision: A World Free of Pain.
