MSCI recognises Grünenthal as an ESG industry leader
Grünenthal has a deep responsibility to the patients we serve, the people we work with, our stakeholders and the planet we depend on, which our Corporate Responsibility Programme reinforces. It is also why we regularly have our performance assessed by external and independent rating agencies. They evaluate our approach to environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics, such as greenhouse gas emissions, employee health and safety and corporate governance. The agencies then provide us with a score, with the results providing patients, customers, innovation partners, investors and other stakeholders a trustworthy indication of how we manage ESG risks and opportunities. Morgan Stanley Capital International (MSCI) recently published its results, recognising Grünenthal as an industry leader. MSCI’s ratings measure a company's resilience against long-term ESG risks. Scores range from CCC (lowest) to AAA (highest).
Grünenthal received an ‘AA’ rating, which puts us ahead of several high-profile competitors in the pharmaceutical industry. This is our first-ever rating from MSCI. The detailed feedback on our performance highlighted our strong governance and people development approaches.
This ‘AA’ rating from MSCI joins a growing list of positive ESG assessments from external organisations. Sustainalytics certified Grünenthal as ESG industry leader with an overall “low risk”. EcoVadis, a rating agency focused on ESG in the supply chain, awarded Gold Medal status to Grünenthal for the first time earlier this year. Independent feedback is essential for businesses because ESG topics are key factors for investment strategies. By demonstrating our effective approach to these topics, we show to the world that our company is living up to its responsibilities. Alongside these regular assessments, our teams constantly review Grünenthal’s ESG risks and look for improvement opportunities. In this way, we are making positive progress to ensure a strong future for our business, for patients and for the planet.
