Building an inclusive, respectful workplace
Each employee has unique career ambitions and aspirations. Grünenthal is committed to supporting progress towards those personal and professional goals, including for people with accessibility requirements. In this spirit, we are striving to create a culture of inclusion where all of our colleagues receive the respect, encouragement and freedom they need to achieve their ambitions.
Rodrigo Caceres has worked at Grünenthal for 13 years and shares his real-life experience of how inclusive workplaces make a positive difference in his daily life.
What is your role at Grünenthal?
Alongside being in charge of the internal pharmacy at our Santiago site in Chile, I am an active member of the Grünenthal Chile Emergency Brigade – the first-response team in case of emergencies at our facility. Thanks to Grünenthal, I have also successfully gained my certification as an inclusion manager. Certification is granted by ChileValora, a service under the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. My work in this role supports the constant move towards becoming a more inclusive and respectful workplace.
How has our company supported your career development?
My job requires me to move around a lot, so having universal accessibility at our Santiago site makes it easier for me to go from one place to another. It also supports my brigade work. It may seem trivial, but unrestricted access makes a big contribution to making me feel included and facilitating a more inclusive society. Since joining Grünenthal, being in a wheelchair has never been an issue. I have developed a successful career and continue to grow personally and professionally.
What are your hopes and expectations for inclusion in the future?
I have a 9-year-old daughter, and she is growing up in a world that is much more accessible and inclusive for everyone. This is fundamental for me and we must continue to work on building a more inclusive society with a diverse range of visible role models.
Rodrigo’s development at Grünenthal is a strong example of how we are actively investing in our people. We aim to offer a workplace that mirrors the diversity of society and to take a leading role in equity and inclusion. We also support employees in pursuing their unique ambitions and aspirations.
